The Lakes Gin is distilled with locally sourced juniper along with botanicals from the surrounding areas including Bilberries, Heather and Meadowsweet.
First, and most importantly, the botanicals. Durham Gin uses 10 different botanicals, including some traditional flavours like Juniper and angelica, as well as some unique ones like pink peppercorns and celery seed. Secondly, spring water, which is sourced from a natural spring near Durham City. The third and final component is pure grain spirit.
Hepple Gin uses an innovative three-level process for extracting botanical flavours. The heavier ones are distilled with the grain, lighter examples are vacuum distilled, and juniper flavour is extracted using carbon dioxide. Vibrant, intense and full of citrus and juniper flavour.
Bombay Sapphire is made using Vapour Infusion. The botanicals are held separate from the spirit in perforated copper baskets, and when the heated vapours rise, the distinctive flavour of the botanicals are released resulting in a complex aromatic liquid that delivers a broader, more balanced flavour.
The Star of Bombay features classic notes of juniper, angelica and coriander that’ll be familiar to those who love Bombay Sapphire. The addition of Bergamot from Calabria and Ambrette seeds from Ecuador offers an exotic depth and fullness.
Brockmans is like no other gin. It stands proudly alone from the many other types of gin due to the unique recipe of exquisite botanicals and the patient steeping distillation process. To make Brockmans, exquisite botanicals are sourced from all over the world. These include some typical ingredients such as angelica from Saxony, Bulgarian coriander and juniper berries from Tuscany. The more traditional notes of gin are combined with a refreshing influence of citrus and aromatic wild berry. This creates an intensely smooth gin with a beautifully crafted taste that is sensual and daringly different.
Jinzu was created by Bristol bartender Dee Davies, and was made a commercial realisation following her winning entry in the world class ‘Show your Spirit’ competition. The classic gin botanicals are complimented by zesty sweet yuzu lemon and delicate cherry blossom notes. Finishes with a creamy smooth sake body and savoury notes.
Elegant Crisp Gin is made from distilling the organic cider produced on Rosemaund Farm. The spirit is then re-distilled with eleven wild botanicals including Herefordshire Elderflower, Liquorice and Bramley Apple and naturally pure water taken from the aquifer running underneath the cider apple orchards.
Sipsmith Sloe Gin is made with their award-winning London Dry Gin then left to rest on wild, hand-picked sloe berries resulting in a truly handmade sloe gin that is subtle, complex and bursting with flavour.
Old Raj is infused with a large amount of Saffron, a rare and costly spice derived from the Crocus Flower. In addition to a slightly spicy flavour, this also gives the gin a pale yellow colour.
Oak Gin is a throwback to a bygone era. Matured in oak aged beer casks, this gin carries hints of vanilla and toasted caramel. Light amber in colour with hints of bronze.
Tanqueray No. 10 is a super-premium small-batch gin crafted with handpicked whole fruit botanicals and is distilled four times, highlighted by delicate citrus and mellowed by Juniper and Chamomile.
Hendricks is a unique, pink-tinged handcrafted gin. It is infused with the usual botanicals but the special infusion of cucumber and rose petals creates a distinctive and unexpected flavour.
Monkey 47 is an unusual yet simply stunning gin. The 47 name comes from the number of botanicals that are used, and the fact that it is bottled at a healthy 47%. Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours.
Pink gin started out life as a sea farers breakfast, drank to rally a man against the wiles of the ocean, but now it’s had a modern make over by The Bitter Truth. It begins with a Mediterranean bouquet on the nose, with juniper, lemons and warm spices. Wonderfully calm in the mouth, juniper is still at the helm but it is supported by a crew of fresh spiced flavours like liquorice, caraway and fennel which cruise to a smooth whirlpool finish.
